KPSC Assistant Controller & Audit Officer Selection Process

Section A – Preliminary Examination

Paper 1 General Studies 150 2 hours Compulsory
Paper 2 Commerce and Management 300 2 hours Compulsory

The Preliminary Examination question papers are set in both Kannada and English. Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are used only for shortlisting candidates for the Main Examination and do not count towards the final merit ranking. Based on vacancies notified, candidates are admitted to the Main Examination in a 1:20 ratio, based on marks scored in the Preliminary Examination.

Section B – Main Examination

Paper Subject Maximum Marks Duration Type

Paper 2 English 150 3 hours Compulsory
Paper 3 General Studies 300 3 hours Compulsory

Marks obtained in Kannada and English papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2) are used only for determining eligibility – a minimum of 30% in each and an average of 35% across both is required – and do not count towards the merit ranking. Candidates who do not meet this minimum will not be eligible for evaluation of their other papers. Merit ranking is based on the remaining papers of the Main Examination.

Detailed syllabus for the Preliminary and Main Examinations, as per Section-II of Schedule-2 of the Karnataka State Civil Services (Recruitment) Rules, 2011, is available on the Commission’s website at kpsc.kar.nic.in/Syllabus.
