Spices Board, under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India, has released Notification No. 12/2026 (dated 01-10-2026) for the Spices Board Trainee (Development) Recruitment 2026. A total of 21 trainee posts are available at 21 Spices Board unit offices across four regions: Gangtok, Sakleshpur, Guwahati and Other Regions. This selection is exclusively for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.

Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Botany, Microbiology or Biotechnology can apply online at spicesboard.in/recruitment on or before 19-10-2026. Selected trainees receive a stipend of Rs. 20,000 per month for a two-year training period, and selection is through a walk-in written test scheduled on 22-10-2026, 28-10-2026 and 31-10-2026 depending on the unit office. Eligibility Criteria

  • The selection is open exclusively to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture / Horticulture / Forestry / Botany / Microbiology / Biotechnology from a recognised University/Institute, with working knowledge of computers.
  • Candidates who have not yet received their final degree certificate need not appear for the test.
  • Candidates must obtain the original Degree certificate within two years from the date of issue of the Provisional Degree certificate. Those who have not done so within this period are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have undergone training in any office of Spices Board earlier need not apply again, whether or not they completed that training.

Salary/Stipend

  • Stipend: Rs. 20,000 per month.
  • In case of travel to spice fields, TA will be paid.
  • Period of training: Two years from the date of joining.
  • Leave eligibility: 01 day per month.
  • The selection as Trainee (Development) is only a training and is not linked to regular appointment under any circumstances; it cannot be regularised at any stage.

  • Maximum Age: Not exceeding 35 years as on the date of the Written Test.

Selection Process

  • Selection is through a written test (walk-in test / computer proficiency) conducted at the designated centres.
  • Candidates must report at the venue before the scheduled time for certificate verification and must bring all original documents and certificates, along with one set of self-attested copies each, covering identity, age and educational qualifications.
  • Candidates who report after the specified time, or who fail to submit the application online, will not be permitted to take the test.
  • No TA/DA will be given to candidates who attend the written test.
  • A rank list is maintained and is valid for one year from the date of publication of results, unless a fresh notification for the same training is issued. It is operated only when a vacancy arises from non-joining of a ranked candidate, or from a trainee leaving by death or resignation within one year of joining.
