SMP Kolkata Trainee Pilot Recruitment 2026 – Apply Offline for 18 Posts

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority (SMP Kolkata) has announced 18 vacancies for the Trainee Pilot post. Candidates applying for these positions must possess qualifications such as Master (FG)/Dredge Master Grade-I, First Mate (FG)/Dredge Master Grade-II, 2nd Mate (FG)/Dredge Mate Grade I, or B.Sc. Nautical Science. The notified pay for the post is Rs. 70,000-2,00,000/-, Rs. 60,000-1,80,000/-, Rs. 50,000, or Rs. 40,000. Eligible applicants must apply through the prescribed offline process by submitting a sealed envelope containing the required application proforma and documents on or before 26 October 2026. The selection process consists of an interview, and selected candidates are required to serve a bond for at least 5 years after qualifying as Pilot.

Who Can Apply

Qualification

Candidates must possess one of the following educational and professional qualifications:

• Master (FG) / Dredge Master Grade-I
• First Mate (FG) / Dredge Master Grade-II
• 2nd Mate (FG) / Dredge Mate Grade I
• B.Sc. Nautical Science

Age

The crucial date for determining age is 01.09.2026. Upper age limits vary based on qualifications:

• Not exceeding 25 years for candidates possessing B.Sc. Nautical Science.
• Not exceeding 30 years for candidates possessing Second Mate (FG)/Dredge Mate Grade-I.
• Not exceeding 35 years for First Mate (FG)/Dredge Master Gr. II.
• Not exceeding 40 years for candidates possessing Master (FG)/Dredge Master Gr. I certificate.

Age Relaxation

If any SC, ST or OBC category candidate applies for a post under the UR category, the candidate will not be eligible for relaxation in age.

Reservation

Reservations are applicable for UR, OBC (B/L), SC, ST, and EWS categories as per the notification. The post is not identified suitable for PwBD Category.

Stipend and Training Period

Selected candidates start at different pay levels depending on their qualifications: Rs. 70,000-2,00,000/- for Master (FG)/Dredge Master Grade-I; Rs. 60,000-1,80,000/- for First Mate (FG)/Dredge Master Grade-II; Rs. 50,000/- for 2nd Mate (FG)/Dredge Mate Grade I; and Rs. 40,000/- for B.Sc. Nautical Science. Adjustment against the regular post of Pilot is subject to passing requisite examinations (maximum of 3 attempts allowed per examination).

2. Affix one recent colour passport-size photograph, self-attested, on the designated space.
3. Fill in all required details including personal information, educational qualifications, professional qualifications, and work experience.
4. Enclose self-certified/self-attested photocopies of caste certificates, educational and professional qualification certificates, age proof certificate, and CDC/COC.
5. Place the application and enclosures inside a sealed envelope.
6. Superscribe the envelope with ‘Application for the post of Trainee Pilot at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (erstwhile Kolkata Port Trust)’.
7. Send the application by post or deliver it to the Director, Marine Department, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata at 15 Strand Road, Kolkata 700001 on or before 26.10.2026.
