The Civil Defence & Home Guards Department, Meghalaya, Shillong, has issued a notice for enrolment of trained Home Guards Volunteers into 558 Part-Time Guardsman and Equivalent Ranks (Volunteers) posts in the Meghalaya Border Wing Home Guards Battalion. Meghalaya Home Guards Recruitment 2026 (Memo No. E.1/2026/95-A, dated 27.08.2026) is open to Indian citizens domiciled in Meghalaya who are trained Home Guards Volunteers. Applications in the Prescribed Standard Form must reach the concerned District Home Guards Office, Officers Commanding District Training Centre, or Civil Defence Office on or before 28th September 2026. Selection is through a Personal Interview conducted at Tura and Shillong centres, and selected volunteers will serve in the remote border areas of Khasi, Jaintia & Garo Hills bordering Bangladesh.

Meghalaya Home Guards Recruitment 2026 Nature of Engagement

  • Volunteers will be deployed under ‘Wages’, Highly Skilled Category, at the rate prescribed by the Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development, Govt. of Meghalaya, from time to time, including the Risk Allowance prescribed by the State Government, paid as monthly Honoraria.
  • The deployment period is for 1 (one) year, which may be extended based on the volunteer’s performance in the assigned task.
  • The deployment is purely temporary and voluntary; no volunteer can claim regularization or permanent retention.
  • Deployed volunteers can be dismissed or terminated at any time without assigning any reason.
  • Selected/successful volunteers must serve anywhere in the remote border areas of Khasi, Jaintia & Garo Hills bordering Bangladesh.

Meghalaya Home Guards Recruitment 2026 Documents Required

The application, filed in the Standard Form, must be submitted along with attested copies of the following certificates/documents:

  • 2 (two) copies of a recent passport-size photograph, one of which is to be pasted on the Standard Form
  • Educational Qualification Certificate
  • Birth Certificate or Age Certificate as per school records
  • EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) of Meghalaya
  • Home Guards Basic Training Certificate
  • Medical Fitness Certificate from any Authorized Government Medical Practitioner/Institution

Completed applications, accompanied by self-attested copies of certificates and testimonials, should be submitted to the respective District Home Guards Office, Officers Commanding District Training Centre, or Civil Defence Office from where the applicant is being deployed with various Requisitioning Agencies.

  • The Personal Interview of eligible Home Guards Volunteers will be conducted at Tura and Shillong centres.
  • No separate intimation regarding interviews will be sent. It is the responsibility of candidates/volunteers to check the selected list and appear for the interview on the dates notified on the Departmental Notice Boards and the official website (www.meghomeguards.gov.in).
  • Volunteers should carry valid ID cards for identification and present original documents to the Board during the Personal Interview.

How to Apply for Meghalaya Home Guards Recruitment 2026

  1. Obtain the Prescribed Standard Form for enrolment.
  2. Fill the form and attach 2 copies of a recent passport-size photograph (pasting one on the form), along with attested copies of the Educational Qualification Certificate, Birth/Age Certificate, EPIC card of Meghalaya, Home Guards Basic Training Certificate, and Medical Fitness Certificate.

Meghalaya Home Guards Recruitment 2026 Important Instructions

  • The Department shall not be responsible for any damage or injury to volunteers during the enrolment process.
  • Volunteers should come duly prepared to stay for 2/3 days under their own arrangements; no TA/DA will be admissible for the journey or stay.
  • Canvassing, directly or indirectly, will lead to disqualification of the candidate/volunteer; any volunteer found offering a bribe to anyone involved in the enrolment process, or to a person in authority, shall be disqualified and/or prosecuted.
  • The Department reserves the right to cancel the enrolment process wholly or partially, without assigning any reasons.
  • State Reservation Policy/Roster will not be applicable to this enrolment, as the deployment is purely voluntary.
