Age Limit

You must be at least 18 and no more than 45 years old on the last date for receiving applications. The upper age limit can be relaxed by up to 5 years, as per the instructions of the Himachal Pradesh government.

Disability and Residence

• Only Orthopedically Handicapped (OH) candidates can apply.
• You need a permanent disability of at least 40%. This must be shown on a Disability Certificate issued by the competent Medical Board, which means the District Medical Board. If you are selected, the certificate will be checked by the competent authority.
• You must be a bona fide resident of Himachal Pradesh, certified by the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Tehsildar or Naib-Tehsildar.

Essential Qualification

1. You must have passed the 10+2 Examination from a recognized Board of School Education or University. OR Matriculation from a recognized Board of School Education with a one or two year Diploma or Certificate from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Information Technology (IT) Enabled Sectors (ITES), as notified by the Director General of Employment & Training (Govt. of India) from time to time. Another option is a three-year Diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or IT from a Polytechnic approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
2. Computer typing speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi.

Differently abled candidates who are otherwise qualified for a clerical post, and whom the Medical Board certifies as unable to type, may be excused from the typing test. This applies only where a physical disability or deformity permanently prevents the person from typing. The same exemption also covers the Skill Test Norms on Computers.

Eligibility for the essential qualification is judged as on the last date for applications.

Desirable Qualification

Knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh, and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in HP.

Selection Process

There is no written exam. Selection is based only on the documents you send with your application form. The department awards weightage marks for these documents under the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, HP letter No. SJE-B-B(15)-03/2014-1 dated 28 August 2017. These are a non-employment certificate for the family, widow, divorced, destitute or single woman status, single daughter or orphan status, and a training certificate of at least 6 months related to the post. Candidates are called for evaluation and screening in a ratio of 1:10 for the first post, and 1:5 for each further post. The date of document evaluation and verification will be sent to you by post and also put on the department’s website. You must bring all original certificates to verification. If you do not, your candidature will be cancelled.

1. Get the prescribed application form from the department’s official website. You can also collect it from the Office of the Commandant General, Home Guards, Civil Defence & Fire Services, US Club, Himachal Pradesh, Shimla-1.
2. Fill in the form completely. It asks for your type of disability, name, father’s or husband’s name, date of birth, percentage of disability, issuing authority, category, educational details, permanent and correspondence addresses, email and mobile number.
3. Paste a recent self-attested passport-size colour photograph in the space provided.
4. Attach self-attested photocopies of all the certificates the form lists.
5. Write on the envelope: “Application for the post of …” followed by the name of the post.

Other conditions
