| Teaching Assistant in Economics | [A] (i) Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in Economics / Applied Economics subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. AND (ii) Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET / GSET or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil. / Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from NET/SLET/GSET. (Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to 11 July 2009 are governed by existing ordinances under specific specified conditions). OR [B] The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university / institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai). |

Stipend will not be paid during Diwali and Summer Vacation. The appointment is for Gujarat University for its M.A. (Regular) degree course which is a grant-in-aid programme.
Gujarat University Selection Process
The selection process comprises a walk-in interview, and if the number of candidates is found to be more, the Department may conduct a MCQ screening test based on NET/GSET syllabus and/or teaching demonstration.
How to Attend the Walk-in Interview for Gujarat University
- Check the official notification and ensure eligibility for the Teaching Assistant position.
- Download and fill out the application form provided in the official notification PDF.
- Report in person for the walk-in interview on 22 October 2026 at the Gujarat University, Gujarat University, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad-380009.
- Ensure reporting between 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Classroom No. 19.
- Complete registration between 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Classroom No. 19.
- Submit yourself for document verification between 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Department Office, carrying all original supporting documents such as required degree certificates, NET/SLET/GSET certificate (if any), semester-wise marks sheets, experience certificates, testimonials, etc., and one set of self-attested copies.
- Attend the screening test, interview, and/or teaching demonstration at the Director Room, School of Sciences, Gujarat University starting at 11 am onwards as applicable.

Gujarat University Important Instructions
- The appointment is purely contractual adhoc for 10 months and will automatically cease on completion of the period.
- No candidate will be allowed to register if he/she reports after 10:30 am.
- Working hours will be during 10:30 a.m. to 6:10 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, with a weekly workload of 40 hours, out of which direct teaching will be of 18 hours.
- Selected candidates will be entitled to 10 days of casual leave at the rate of one day per month.
- Stipend will not be paid during Diwali and Summer vacation, and absence other than authorized leave will be treated as Leave without Pay.
- Teaching assistants will not be eligible to the Provident Fund Scheme or membership of any other welfare scheme applicable to regular employees.
- Selected candidates will not be permitted to leave the job in the middle of an academic term/semester and must complete exam-related responsibilities.
- Appointees are prohibited from taking part in politics, strikes, or accepting any other private tuition or business assignments.
