Selection Process

• Selection is through a Walk-in Interview/Test — there is no separate written examination stage unless invoked below.
• If the number of candidates turning up for a project is very high, a screening committee may shortlist candidates via a written test or other criteria, and only shortlisted candidates will then be interviewed.
• Candidates must bring the filled application form, original certificates, and self-attested photocopies on the day of the walk-in itself — no other mode of application is accepted.
• Final selection is at the discretion of the competent authority, CSIR-NML; the decision is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entertained.
• Engagement is subject to availability of project funds and is not a regular CSIR appointment.

How to Attend the Walk-in Interview

1. Download and fill the Project Staff Application Form (Advt. No. T/PS/04/2026) in the prescribed proforma — a separate form is required for each Group/Project applied for.
2. Affix a recent self-attested colour passport-size photograph on the form.
3. Attach self-attested photocopies of all educational, experience, age-proof and category certificates as applicable.
4. Report to CSIR-NML, Burmamines, Jamshedpur-831007 (Jharkhand) between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM on the date corresponding to your project’s Group (see schedule above).
5. Carry all original certificates/documents for verification along with the filled application and self-attested copies.
6. Appear for the interview/test as conducted on the day.

Documents Required

• Filled-in Project Staff Application Form with affixed colour photograph
• SSC/SSLC/10th certificate (for name & date of birth proof)
• 10+2, Diploma/ITI, Graduation, Post-Graduation, Ph.D. certificates & mark sheets (as applicable to the post)
• CSIR-UGC NET/GATE certificate, where applicable (for PAT-I/PAT-II/JRF posts)
• Experience certificates/relieving letters, where required
• Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD), where applicable
• Aadhaar Card and PAN Card
• Proof of joining OM, if presently working as Project Staff in CSIR-NML/other CSIR Lab

Important Terms & Conditions

• Engagement confers no right to continuation, absorption, or regularization in CSIR/CSIR-NML; it can be terminated with one month’s notice (or one month’s stipend in lieu) from either side.
• Candidates already engaged as Project Staff in CSIR-NML or any other CSIR Lab/Institute for 6 years or more are not eligible. Those engaged for less than 6 years will have their tenure automatically end on completion of 6 years.
• Hindi may be used as the medium of conversation during the interview.
• Providing false information may result in a ban from future CSIR-NML recruitment/engagement, which may also be shared with other CSIR labs and government agencies.
• The number and level of positions may increase, decrease, or be cancelled at any stage, even after the selection process concludes.
• CSIR-NML reserves the right to cancel or withdraw an offer of engagement in case of any discrepancy found at any stage.
