Educational Qualification

• A B.V.Sc. (Bachelor of Veterinary Science) or B.V.Sc. & A.H. (Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry) degree from a university recognized by the Veterinary Council of India
• The candidate must be permanently registered with the Bihar Veterinary Council

Citizenship

The candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Relaxation

• PwBD candidates: 10 years’ relaxation in the maximum age limit
• In-service regular government servants (of Bihar Government) who have completed 3 continuous years of service: 5 years’ relaxation for moving to a higher pay scale
• Veterinary doctors who worked on a contractual basis under Bihar Government or any non-private institution (Central Government/undertaking/corporation/board/autonomous body) in an equivalent post, including under Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources Department projects: relaxation equal to the contract work period, subject to a maximum age of 8 years above the prescribed limit, calculated as on the cut-off date 01.08.2026
• Candidates who were within the age limit reckoned as on 01.08.2021 for the previous Touring Veterinary Officer/equivalent recruitment (per the 23.01.2006 provision), or who have since crossed the maximum age limit between then and 01.08.2026, remain eligible for this advertisement if they satisfy other eligibility conditions
• Ex-servicemen: 3 years plus the length of military service rendered, provided the candidate’s actual age on the date of application does not exceed 57 years
• Only one relaxation category (from the above) is admissible to a candidate, whichever is most beneficial

BTSC Veterinary Officer Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Selection is based on a Computer Based Test (CBT) and marks for prior contractual work experience, combined into a final merit score.

Exam Pattern (Written Test)

• 100 questions, all multiple-choice (objective), in both Hindi and English
• Duration: 2 hours; total marks: 100 (later scaled to 75 for the merit formula, see below)
• Syllabus based on the B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree level, prescribed by the requisitioning department; the detailed syllabus is published separately on the Commission’s website
• Conducted in one or more shifts; results normalized across shifts where multiple shifts are held
• Negative marking: +1 mark for each correct answer, –0.25 mark for each wrong answer

Merit Score Formula

• Written exam score (out of 100) is scaled to a maximum of 75 by multiplying the candidate’s percentage marks by 0.75 (e.g., 60% in the written test = 60 × 0.75 = 45 marks)
• Work experience marks (out of 25) are added to the scaled written-test score to arrive at the final merit score out of 100
• Experience benefit is available only to candidates who qualify the written examination, and only for contractual work as a veterinary doctor with the Bihar Government or a non-private institution (Central Government/undertaking/corporation/board/autonomous body), including under Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources Department projects

How to Apply for BTSC Veterinary Officer Recruitment 2026

1. Visit the official website btsc.bihar.gov.in.
2. Fill out the online application in the prescribed format between 24 September 2026 and 23 October 2026.
3. Indicate your reservation category clearly in the relevant column – no reservation benefit will be given if this is left blank.
4. Enter your Aadhaar number as the preferred photo ID; if unavailable, another photo ID (PAN card, Driving Licence, etc.) number may be entered instead.
5. Upload a recent photograph (taken within the last 3 months) meeting the specified requirements (full face and head visible, eyes open, plain white background, no shadow, no spectacles).
6. Pay the application fee of ₹100 online via debit card/credit card/net banking/UPI; bank transaction charges, if any, are borne by the applicant.
7. Upload all relevant certificates/mark sheets in the prescribed columns; applications with missing uploads are liable to be cancelled by the Commission.
8. Download and keep a hard copy of the final submitted application safely for future reference.

Documents Required

• Matriculation (or equivalent) original certificate, for date of birth verification
• B.V.Sc. or B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree mark sheets for all years, and the original/provisional degree certificate, from a university recognized by the Veterinary Council of India
• Permanent registration certificate from the Bihar Veterinary Council
• Caste certificate / creamy-layer-free certificate / EWS (economically weaker section) certificate, as applicable
• Permanent/domicile residence certificate
• Disability certificate (for PwBD candidates)
• Relationship certificate, for candidates claiming the freedom-fighter-descendant reservation
• Salary/service payment certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-I), for candidates claiming work-experience marks or age relaxation on the basis of contractual service

Important Conditions

• Reservation benefits apply only to candidates who are permanent/domiciled residents of Bihar; category once entered in the application cannot be changed after registration
• Only a caste certificate is not sufficient to claim BC/EBC reservation – a creamy-layer-free certificate must also be attached
• Temporary disability certificates that are not renewed within the prescribed validity period will not be accepted for reservation purposes
• Transgender (Kinnar/Kothi/Hijra) candidates will get the reservation benefits available to Backward Classes, as per applicable Government resolutions
• Only candidates who qualify the written examination are eligible for consideration of work-experience marks
• Document verification will be conducted only for candidates who qualify the written examination, based on the category-wise merit list
• The Commission’s own Medical Board may re-examine PwBD claims at its level
• Candidature found to be based on forged/fake certificates at any stage of the selection process will be cancelled, with legal action initiated against the candidate
• The Commission is not responsible for internet/banking disruptions during the application process; candidates are advised to complete the process well before the last date
