Age Limit

Age Relaxation (only one applicable, whichever is highest)

• Persons with Disabilities: 10 years’ relaxation in upper age limit.
• In-service Bihar Government employees with 3+ years of continuous regular service, moving to a higher pay level: 5 years’ relaxation.
• Candidates who served on a contractual basis on the same post in a non-private government/statutory institution: relaxation equal to the contractual service period (as on 01.08.2026 cut-off).
• Candidates already in contractual service on the post applied for: relaxation equal to actual contractual tenure served.
• Ex-servicemen: 3 years plus length of military service rendered, provided actual age does not exceed 57 years.

Reservation Policy

• Reservation benefit is available only to candidates who are permanent (domicile) residents of Bihar. Candidates residing outside Bihar are not eligible for any reservation benefit.
• SC/ST candidates must submit a caste certificate and a domicile certificate.
• BC/EBC candidates must submit a creamy-layer exclusion certificate and a domicile certificate.
• EWS candidates must submit an income & asset certificate and a domicile certificate.
• All such certificates must be issued by a competent authority notified by the respective State Government of the applicant’s permanent area of residence.
• 35% horizontal reservation for women is applicable only to female candidates who are Bihar domiciles, as per vacancy availability.
• PwBD reservation is admissible only on the basis of a Disability Certificate issued by a duly constituted Medical Board (Central/State Government), with at least 40% benchmark disability. Temporary disability certificates not renewed after expiry will not be accepted.
• Grandchildren/great-grandchildren of freedom fighters recognized for pension by the Centre are entitled to 2% horizontal reservation, subject to a certificate from the District Magistrate of their home district.
• Reservation category, once claimed and confirmed in the application, cannot be changed after registration.

Selection Process

Selection is based on a competitive Computer Based Test (CBT) combined with marks for relevant work experience, as per the following breakup:

• CBT marks are converted to the merit score by multiplying the percentage scored by 0.75 (e.g., 60% in the CBT = 45 marks).
• CBT: 100 objective (MCQ) questions worth 100 marks, in Hindi and English, of 2 hours duration.
• Syllabus is based on the subject matter relevant to the post and is published separately on the BTSC website.
• Negative marking: +1 mark for each correct answer; −0.25 mark for each wrong answer.
• The exam may be held in multiple shifts/sessions; a normalization process will be applied to prepare the score card.
• Minimum qualifying marks: 30% in the CBT, for all categories.
• Work-experience marks are counted only for candidates who qualify the CBT, based on a Salary Payment Certificate (Annexure-I format) issued by the Director, Fisheries/Deputy Director, Fisheries (Division)/District Fisheries Officer-cum-Chief Executive Officer.
• A category-wise merit list is prepared from qualified candidates, who are then called for Document Verification.

1. Visit the official website www.btsc.bihar.gov.in.
2. Locate Advertisement No. 28/2026, Matsya Prasar Padadhikari and open the online application link.
3. Read the detailed notification carefully before proceeding.
4. Fill in personal, educational, category/reservation and work-experience details accurately and re-check before submission – no corrections are allowed after final submission.
5. Upload a recent photograph (taken within the last 3 months, plain white background, face and both ears visible, no spectacles glare) and signature as per the specified format.
6. Upload all relevant certificates/mark-sheets (educational, caste/domicile/EWS, PwBD, freedom fighter, work-experience, etc.) in the prescribed columns – documents not uploaded will not be accepted later.
7. Pay the requisite examination fee of ₹100 online (debit card/credit card/net banking/UPI) and download the payment receipt for your records.
8. Download and safely retain a hard copy of the final submitted application and all supporting documents for Document Verification.

Documents Required

• Original Matriculation (10th) certificate (for date of birth proof)
• B.F.Sc. (Fisheries Science) degree certificate and all-year mark sheets / provisional certificate
• Caste certificate / creamy-layer exclusion certificate / EWS income & asset certificate, as applicable
• Permanent residence (domicile) certificate
• Certificate of grandchild/great-grandchild of a recognized Bihar freedom fighter, where claimed
• Disability certificate (PwBD), where applicable
• Ex-servicemen relevant service/discharge certificate, where age relaxation is claimed
• Salary Payment Certificate (Annexure-I format) for work-experience marks, where claimed
• Valid photo ID (Aadhaar preferred; else PAN card, driving licence, etc.)
• Recent passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format

Important Conditions

• Only ONE relaxation among the applicable relaxation clauses will be given to a candidate, even if eligible under more than one.
• Reserved-category candidates applying against unreserved posts will not receive reserved-category relaxations for that vacancy.
• Documents not mentioned/uploaded in the online application will not be accepted during Document Verification, and the candidate will be solely responsible for any resulting loss of eligibility, reservation, or work-experience marks.
• Only clear, properly scanned documents should be uploaded; blurred, unclear, dark, or illegible uploads may lead to cancellation of candidature even at the Document Verification stage.
• Candidates using fake/forged certificates at any stage of the selection process will have their candidature cancelled and face legal action.
