Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV) is recruiting candidates for 2 temporary vacancies: Young Professional-II (YP-II) — 1 and Young Professional-I (YP-I) — 1. Eligible candidates can attend a walk-in interview on 30 October 2026, reporting at 12:00 PM. The positions are purely temporary on a contractual basis and co-terminus with the project. The consolidated monthly pay is Rs. 42,000 for Young Professional-II (YP-II) and Rs. 30,000 for Young Professional-I (YP-I). Applicants must possess the required post-wise qualifications in relevant agricultural or allied disciplines and meet the age limit of below 45 years as on 1 October 2026. Candidates must bring two copies of their application with bio-data, attested document photocopies, photographs, and original certificates to the walk-in interview.

Posts and Eligibility

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

For Young Professional-II (YP-II): Experience in plant tissue culture, plant pathogen/virus detection, ELISA, PCR/RT-PCR, molecular biology, genetic fidelity testing, laboratory quality-control activities or related agricultural biotechnology work. Working knowledge of computer applications, data recording, documentation and preparation of technical reports will be desirable.

For Young Professional-I (YP-I): Practical experience/ working knowledge in plant tissue culture, potato production, nursery/plant hardening, plant propagation, ARC technology, protected cultivation or related agricultural laboratory/field activities. Basic computer knowledge and ability to maintain production records and project documentation will be desirable.

Age Limit and Relaxation

Age should be below 45 years as on 01.10.2026. Age relaxation up to 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates. Further age relaxation may be given to candidates with experience in such type of project/programme.

Selected persons will work under the project entitled “Potato Tissue Culture and Apical Rooted Cutting (ARC) Plantlet Production Facility at Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya” funded by the Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal, located at Pundibari in the district of Coochbehar, under the guidance of Dr. Nandita Sahana, Principal Investigator, Dept. of Biochemistry, Faculty of Agriculture, UBKV, Pundibari, Cooch Behar.

What to Bring

• Two copies of application along with detailed bio-data.
• Two sets of photocopies of all documents, mark sheets, and certificates starting from Madhyamik examination, duly attested by a Gazetted Officer / Head of the Institution.
• Original mark sheets and certificates starting from Madhyamik examination and other experience certificates, if any.
• Proof of Date of Birth (e.g., CBSE/ HSC/ SSC/ Matriculation certification).
• SC/ST/OBC certificate, if applicable.
• Two recent passport-size photographs.

What Happens on the Day

Applicants must appear in person before a selection committee for a walk-in-interview at the chamber of The Director of Research, Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Pundibari, Cooch Behar, on 30 October 2026 at the scheduled times. Preference will be given to candidates whose research interest and work experience have relevance to the mandate of the project and higher qualification/experience.

Important Instructions

• The positions are purely temporary on a contractual basis and co-terminus with the project, with no provision of re-employment after termination of the project.
• No TA/DA will be admissible to any candidate for attending the interview.
• Candidates should not have any type of conviction in the court anywhere in India.
• Mere possession of minimum qualification shall not make a candidate selected to the posts.
• The selection committee’s decision will be final and binding in all respects.
• The Viswavidyalaya reserves the right to select anybody as recommended by the selection committee.
• Preference will be given to higher qualification/experience.
