OPSC AAE Eligibility 2026
Educational Qualification
A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Engineering from any University or Institution recognised by any State Government or the Government of India. No other equivalent qualification except a Degree in Agriculture Engineering will be accepted.
Knowledge of Odia (Mandatory)
Candidates must be able to read, write and speak Odia, and must satisfy at least one of the following:
- Passed Middle School Examination with Odia as a language subject; or
- Passed Matriculation or an equivalent examination with Odia as the medium of examination in a non-language subject; or
- Passed Odia as a language subject in the final examination of Class VII from a School or Educational Institution recognised by the Government of Odisha or the Central Government; or
- Passed a test in Odia at Middle English School Standard, conducted by the School & Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha, or the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.
Other Eligibility Conditions
- Must be a citizen of India.
- Must be of sound mental condition and bodily health, free from any physical or mental defect likely to interfere with the discharge of duties (this provision does not apply to physically handicapped candidates); every selected candidate will be examined by a Medical Board.
- A candidate with more than one living spouse is not eligible unless exempted by the State Government for good and sufficient reasons.
- Serving Government servants (temporary or permanent) are eligible if they meet the age and qualification criteria, but must inform their Head of Office in writing and furnish a No Objection Certificate at the time of document verification.
- Candidates debarred by OPSC, another State PSC, or UPSC from appearing in any examination/interview for a specific period are not eligible to apply during that period.

Recruitment is conducted as per the Odisha Agricultural Engineering Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2018. Candidates appointed on or after 1 January 2005 are covered by the Contributory Pension Scheme (NPS) and are not eligible for pension under the Odisha Civil Service (Pension) Rules, 1992.

Note: The examination fee is refunded only to candidates who actually appear in both papers of the Written Examination, processed to the original mode of payment after the exam. Selection is through a competitive examination comprising a Written Examination followed by a Personality Test (Interview).

- Both papers are Objective Type (MCQ) with OMR-based evaluation; each question carries 1 mark.
- Negative marking: 25% of the marks allotted to a question is deducted for each wrong answer; unattempted questions receive zero marks.
- The Commission will fix qualifying marks for each paper and/or in aggregate, category-wise.
- Candidates meeting the qualifying marks are shortlisted for the Personality Test in a ratio of about 1:2 of the advertised vacancies (category-wise), subject to a minimum of 5 candidates per category.
Personality Test / Interview
Carries 25 marks. The Select List is drawn in order of merit based on aggregate marks (Written Examination + Interview, out of 225) for each category, equal to the number of advertised vacancies. Ties are resolved first by Written Examination marks, and if still tied, the older candidate is placed higher.

How to Apply for OPSC AAE Recruitment 2026
- Visit the official website opsc.gov.in and carefully read the full advertisement before filling the online application.
- Register and complete the automated, system-driven online application form; ensure all information entered is accurate before submission.
- Upload a scanned passport-size photograph (unsigned and unattested, within the last 6 months), scanned full signature, and scanned Left-Hand Thumb Impression (LTI), all clearly identifiable.
- Pay the examination fee of ₹700 online (except SC/ST/PwD candidates, who are exempted).
- Upload all required certificates and documents in original scanned form via the Commission’s e-Chayan portal.
- On successful submission, a unique Permanent Public Service Account Number (PPSAN) will be assigned.
- Verify the submitted copy of the application; to modify any information, cancel and reapply within the last date.
- Take a printout of the finally submitted registration and application form, sign the declaration, and retain it along with copies of the required certificates for verification when asked.
- Download the Admission Certificate from the OPSC website before the written exam date and carry it to the examination centre.
Important: Applications received through any mode other than the OPSC online portal will not be accepted and will be summarily rejected. Do not attach original certificates to the application — only self-attested copies are required at the document verification stage, marked “Submitted by me and Certified as genuine and has not been cancelled” with full signature and date.

- Identity Certificate/Card for Third Gender/Transgender candidates, where applicable
Important Conditions
- Reservation for SC/ST (by birth) and SEBC is admissible only to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and Socially & Educationally Backward Classes of Odisha.
- Women candidates belonging to SEBC/SC/ST must submit caste certificates showing “daughter of”; certificates by virtue of marriage (“wife of”) are not acceptable.
- OBC certificates will not be accepted in lieu of an SEBC certificate.
- Community/caste status once mentioned in the online application cannot be changed under any circumstances.
- In case of non-availability of eligible women candidates in a category, unfilled vacancies will be filled by eligible male candidates of the same category; exchange of reservation between SC and ST is not permitted.
- Candidates found guilty of malpractice, seeking illegal support, or submitting forged/manipulated documents will be disqualified and may be debarred from OPSC examinations for 3 years, besides facing criminal prosecution.
- Mere empanelment in the Select List does not confer any right to appointment unless the Government is satisfied on further enquiry that the candidate is suitable in all respects.
- Any complaint on the conduct of the examination must be sent to the Commission’s Grievance Wing at [email protected] within 7 days of the examination; complaints received later will not be entertained.
