The Office of the Pareeksha Commissioner, Thiruvananthapuram, issued the notification on 18 September 2026. K-TET is the qualifying test for anyone who wants to teach in Kerala’s Lower Primary, Upper Primary and High School sections. It is also required for language teachers and specialist teachers (Art & Craft and Physical Education). The test follows the Right to Education Act, 2009, and the NCTE’s requirement that teachers pass an eligibility test.

Educational Qualification

KTET Category 1

Candidates should possess the prescribed Higher Secondary or equivalent qualification with the required marks along with a teacher-training qualification such as:

  • Two-year Diploma in Elementary Education
  • Four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education
  • Two-year Diploma in Education or Special Education, where applicable

KTET Category 2

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree with the required teacher-training qualification. Depending on the applicable eligibility route, accepted qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree with B.Ed.
  • Higher Secondary with four-year B.El.Ed.
  • Higher Secondary with four-year BA.Ed. or B.Sc.Ed.
  • Other equivalent qualifications recognized under the applicable NCTE and Kerala Government rules

KTET Category 3

Candidates should possess the prescribed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the relevant subject along with B.Ed., MSc.Ed. or another recognized teacher-training qualification applicable to High School teaching.

KTET Category 4

Category 4 is intended for language teachers, specialist teachers and Physical Education teachers. Candidates must possess the qualification prescribed for the relevant teaching post under Kerala Education Department rules.

Applicants should check the category-wise qualification and equivalency conditions in the official notification before submitting the application.

How to Apply for KTET September 2026

  1. Visit the official KTET website at ktet.kerala.gov.in.
  2. Open the KTET September 2026 online application link.
  3. Select “New Registration.”
  4. Read the application instructions carefully.
  5. Enter the required personal, educational and category details.
  6. Select the KTET category or categories for which you are eligible.
  7. Upload the prescribed photograph and other required files.
  8. Check all entered information before confirming the application.
  9. Pay the examination fee through the available online payment option.
  10. Complete the final submission by 3 October 2026.
  11. Download and retain the final application printout and transaction details.

Applications are accepted only online. Candidates are not required to send the application printout or certificate copies to Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan.

Photograph Requirements

  • The photograph must be recent and clear.
  • The background should meet the specifications prescribed in the notification.
  • The applicant’s face must be clearly visible.
  • The photograph must be uploaded in the prescribed format and file size.
  • Candidates should not upload an unclear or unsuitable photograph.

KTET Hall Ticket 2026

The KTET September 2026 hall ticket will be available from 4 November 2026. Candidates must download it from the official KTET website using their application credentials.

The hall ticket will contain the examination centre, reporting time and candidate-specific instructions. A printed hall ticket must be carried to the examination centre.
