WB Police Driver Recruitment 2026 – Apply Offline for 5 Posts

West Bengal Police (WB Police) has published the recruitment notification 01/2026/HA for 5 vacancies for the Driver (Temporary / Contractual Basis) post on a contract basis for a period of 01 (one) year. Eligible candidates who are Class VIII passed with a valid Four-Wheeler Driving Licence can apply through the prescribed offline application process from 7 October 2026 to 21 October 2026. Applicants must download and print the form on white A4 size paper, fill it in CAPITAL LETTERS, paste a self-attested passport-size photograph, and submit it by speed post or drop box to the Office of the Superintendent of Railway Police, Howrah, 2nd Floor Yatri Niwas, New Complex, Howrah Rly Station on or before the last date. The pay for the post is Rs. 16,000 per month, and the selection process consists of the shortlisting of valid applications, a Driving Test, an Interview, and a Medical Examination.

WB Police Driver Selection Process

The selection process consists of shortlisting of valid applications followed by a Driving Test, an Interview, and a Medical Examination. Shortlisted candidates possessing valid applications will be called for a Driving Test and Interview carrying 40 marks (Driving Test – 20 & Interview – 20). A merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained. Provisionally selected candidates will then undergo a medical fitness test and verification of character and antecedents.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Driving Test and Interview. Full marks are 40, divided into 20 marks for the Driving Test and 20 marks for the Interview. A merit list will be published on the Howrah GRP website (https://howrahgrp.wb.gov.in/).

Medical Examination

Provisionally selected candidates will have to undergo a medical fitness test as directed by the competent authority.

Verification of Character and Antecedents

Selected candidates will be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate or undergo verification as prescribed by the competent authority at the time of joining.

2. Print the application on white A4 size paper.
3. Fill up the application form in CAPITAL LETTERS.
4. Paste one recent passport-size photograph (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm) self-attested on the top right of the application.
5. Attach self-attested copies of Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Educational Qualification certificates, and Experience certificate.

WB Police Driver Important Instructions

• The engagement will be purely temporary and contractual for a period of 01 (one) year.
• Renewal of the contract will be subject to satisfactory performance and approval of the competent authority.
• Contractual drivers shall not be absorbed in, or claim appointment to, the regular establishment of the Government.
• No TA/DA will be paid to candidates attending the Driving Test and Interview.
• Canvassing in any form and/or bringing any influence will be treated as disqualification.
• Incomplete applications without required documents will be rejected.
• All original documents will be verified at the time of Interview.
• The competent authority reserves the absolute right to cancel the recruitment/engagement process at any stage without prior notice.
