Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has released a notification inviting online applications for the recruitment of Helper (fixed pay) posts. A total of 2510 vacancies are available, and eligible candidates can apply online through the OJAS Gujarat portal. Online applications are accepted from 7th September 2026 to 6th October 2026, and the joint examination process fee can be paid until 8th October 2026.

GSRTC Helper Vacancy Details

GSRTC has announced 2510 vacancies for the Helper post, distributed across category as shown below. The Corporation reserves the unrestricted right to increase or decrease the number of vacancies shown in this notification.

Additionally, out of the total vacancies, 502 are earmarked for Ex-Servicemen and 52 for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), to be adjusted against their respective category (General, EWS, SC, ST, SEBC).

GSRTC Helper Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must be either (a) a citizen of India, or (b) a subject of Nepal, or (c) a subject of Bhutan, or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or (e) a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, East Pakistan (Bangladesh), Burma (Myanmar), Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, and other East African countries, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Candidates in categories (b) to (e) must hold a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government.

Candidates must have chokkhu (clear/normal) vision. Reserved category candidates may apply for unreserved posts, but selection standards for unreserved posts will apply to them.

GSRTC Helper Qualification

The minimum educational qualification is passing at least a one-year course from a Government-recognised ITI in any one of the following trades: Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Mechanic Diesel, General Mechanic, Fitter, Turner, Electrician, Sheet Metal Worker, Automobile Body Repairer, Welder, Welder cum Fabricator, Machinist, Carpenter, Painter General, or Automobile Paint Repairer.

Additional qualification for preference: Candidates who have completed and passed an apprenticeship in the same trade as their minimum qualification, in a Government/Semi-Government/Public Sector Undertaking or any Limited/Private Limited company, and hold an NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) certificate and marksheet for the same, will be eligible for additional weightage. For example, a candidate who passed the ITI Electrician course must have also completed apprenticeship specifically in the Electrician trade (not any other trade such as Lineman/Wireman) to qualify for this additional weightage.

GSRTC Helper Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years. The maximum age limit (with all applicable relaxations) is as follows, calculated as on the last date of application.

The base age range is 18 to 35 years (i.e., date of birth between 06/10/1991 and 06/10/2008). General category female candidates get 5 years relaxation; all reserved category male candidates get 5 years; all reserved category female candidates get 10 years; general category disabled male candidates get 10 years; general category disabled female candidates get 15 years; reserved category disabled male candidates get 15 years; and reserved category disabled female candidates get 20 years relaxation in the upper age limit. In no case, for any category, shall the age (with all applicable relaxations) exceed 45 years as on the specified date.

GSRTC Helper Application Fee

All candidates must compulsorily pay the joint examination online process fee via the OJAS Gujarat website. The fee once paid is non-refundable.

GSRTC Helper Salary

Selected candidates will be given a contract-based appointment in the Helper category on a fixed pay of ₹21,100/- per month for a period of five years. They will not be entitled to any allowances or benefits other than those admissible as per the rules. After satisfactorily completing five years of service, Helper category employees will become eligible for regular appointment on the basic pay currently applicable to the Helper category in the Corporation.

GSRTC Helper Selection Process

Candidates fulfilling the conditions of the notification will be called for a 100-mark MCQ-based examination (OMR or CBRT, as decided by the Corporation). The weightage for direct recruitment is calculated as follows.

The 10 marks for the apprenticeship certificate will be granted only if the candidate holds a valid apprenticeship certificate in the ITI trade shown in the online application, verified at the time of document verification. A merit list will be prepared based on the total weightage obtained, considering the reserved/unreserved vacancies shown in the notification. Candidates will then be called for document verification (typically at a ratio of 1.5 candidates per vacancy, or as required), after which a provisional selection list/waiting list will be prepared.

The 100-mark MCQ-based examination carries the following weightage of subjects, to be completed within 2 hours.

Detailed instructions for the examination will be published on the Corporation’s website. Candidates must carry a valid photo ID proof (Election Photo ID Card/EPIC, Driving License, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, or other Government-authorised ID card) to the examination centre.

How to Apply for GSRTC Helper Recruitment 2026-27

  1. Visit https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in.
  2. Click on “Apply Online”.
  3. Click on the Helper category to view its details.
  4. Click “Apply Now” below the details to open the application format, and fill in Personal Details first (fields marked with a red asterisk * are mandatory).
  5. Click on “Educational Qualification” to fill in Minimum Educational Details.
  6. Click on “Additional Educational Qualification” to fill in any additional qualification, if applicable.
  7. Click on “Computer Knowledge” to fill in computer qualification details.
  8. Click on “Self Declaration”, then click “Yes” to accept the terms and conditions.
  9. Click “Save” to submit the application online; an Application Number will be generated and must be saved.
  10. Click “Upload Photograph”, enter your Application Number and date of birth, then upload your photo and signature in JPG format (photo: 5 cm height × 3.6 cm width; signature: 2.5 cm height × 7.5 cm width; each file not exceeding 10 KB).
  11. Click “Confirm Application”, enter your Application Number and date of birth, and use “Show Application Preview” to review your application before confirming (confirming the application is mandatory).
  12. All candidates (unreserved and reserved, including Divyang and Ex-Servicemen) must click “Online Payment of Fees” and pay the joint examination process fee through the Online Payment Gateway.
  13. Click “Print Application”, enter your Application Number and date of birth, and print and save a copy of the completed application.

Important Instructions

  • Candidates must upload only their own photograph and signature; otherwise, the application will be rejected.
  • All original certificates relating to educational qualification, age, caste, experience, and other eligibility must be kept with the candidate and produced when required; false particulars will render the application liable to rejection.
  • If a candidate submits multiple applications for this post with the process fee paid, only the last submitted application will be considered valid, and the rest will be automatically cancelled.
  • Date of birth will be accepted only as per the SSC certificate or school leaving certificate; an age proof affidavit (“dakhlo”) will not be accepted.
  • Reserved category candidates must submit a Non-Creamy Layer certificate/caste certificate/EWS Income and Asset Certificate, as applicable, within the validity period specified in the notification; otherwise, the application will be rejected.
  • Widowed women candidates seeking preference must submit a competent authority’s certificate of widowhood, husband’s death certificate, and an affidavit of not having remarried, at the time of document verification, to receive an additional 5% weightage on MCQ exam marks.
  • Sportspersons who have represented at (i) National/International, (ii) Inter-University, or (iii) All India School Federation level competitions in specified sports are eligible for an additional 5% weightage on MCQ exam marks, subject to producing a valid certificate at document verification.
  • Persons with disabilities must submit a disability certificate from a competent authority as per the prescribed format; category-wise reservation for Divyang candidates (Categories A to E) is 1% each, totalling 52 posts as noted in the Vacancy Details.
  • Candidates already serving in Government/Semi-Government offices, corporations, or boards must obtain a “No Objection Certificate” from their department within 7 days of applying and submit it at document verification.
  • No RTI Act application seeking information about the recruitment will be considered until the entire recruitment process is complete.
  • The jurisdiction for this notification will be Ahmedabad.
  • The Corporation reserves the unrestricted right to cancel or amend this notification or its instructions at any time for any reason, and in such cases, the process fee paid will not be refunded.
