Ministry of Culture Director General Recruitment 2026 – Apply Offline

Ministry of Culture, New Delhi, Delhi, has invited applications for the post of Director General under Advt No. 27/22/2019-Museum-I. Applications are to be sent offline and must reach the organisation by 20 December 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

• Qualification: Deputation: officers under Central or State Governments, Union territories, Universities, recognized research institutions or statutory and autonomous organizations holding analogous posts on regular basis, or with three years’ regular service in PB-4 (Rs. 37400-67000) with Grade Pay Rs. 8700 or equivalent; Master’s degree in Fine Arts or History of Art from a recognized University; Contract: persons possessing the educational qualifications and experience specified in item I(b)(i) and (ii)
• Experience: 15 years’ experience including research work in one or more of the fields of Fine Art or History of Art, out of which five years’ experience should be in administrative matters
• Age limit: Maximum 67 years (as on the closing date for receipt of applications)

Other conditions:

• Deputation candidates must hold analogous posts on regular basis, or have three years’ regular service in PB-4 with Grade Pay Rs. 8700 or equivalent
• Departmental Director in PB-4 Grade Pay Rs. 8700 with three years’ regular service and the prescribed qualifications will be considered along with outsiders

Desirable:

• Ph. D. in Fine Arts or History of Arts
• Proven record of Publication or Exhibition participations and Fellowships

Who Cannot Apply for Ministry of Culture Recruitment 2026

• A person who has married a person having a spouse living, or who, having a spouse living, has married any person (Central Government may exempt)

Pay and Terms of Engagement

• Contract appointment for three years, may be extended subject to age limit of seventy years and satisfactory performance
• Contract terms and conditions as applicable to a Group A officer of the Central Government holding analogous post
• If departmental candidate is selected, the post is treated as filled by promotion

1. Fill the application in duplicate in the prescribed proforma (Annexure) enclosed with the circular.
2. Officers attach complete up-to-date CR dossiers for the last five years, vigilance certificate, integrity certificate, cadre clearance and major/minor penalty statement for the last 10 years.
3. Attach supporting certificates/documents for qualifications and experience claimed.
4. Send the application through proper channel to the Under Secretary, Museum-I Section, Ministry of Culture, Kartavya Bhawan 2, New Delhi.
5. Application must reach within 45 days from the date of publication of the advertisement in Employment News.
6. Make sure it reaches by 20 December 2026.

Other Points to Note

• Applications received after the due date or incomplete will not be considered and stand rejected
• Applications/CV without supporting certificates for qualifications and experience will not be processed for eligibility
• Employer/Cadre Controlling Authority must certify the application and confirm the officer will be relieved immediately if selected
