Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGENCO), a Government of Andhra Pradesh undertaking, is filling 1 post of Director (Coal & Logistics), a Member of its Board of Directors based at Vijayawada, with a lumpsum pay of Rs. 3,75,955 a month (including DA, HRA & CCA, minus pension) plus allowances. Applicants need at least 25 years of professional experience in the Coal/Thermal sector. Officers of Organized Group ‘A’ Services may also apply. The appointment is for an initial term of two years. About APGENCO

APGENCO was incorporated under the Indian Companies Act, 1956 as a wholly owned State Government Company and is engaged in power generation in Andhra Pradesh. According to the notification, its installed capacity is 8789 MW, made up of 6610 MW Thermal, 1773.6 MW Hydro and 405.4 MW Solar power stations. Besides operating and maintaining its power plants, it is executing new projects under its capacity addition programme and renovating older power stations. Andhra Pradesh Power Development Corporation Limited (APPDCL) and APSPCL are its subsidiaries.

Who Can Apply

Essential Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering i.e., BE/B.Tech (Electrical/ Mechanical/ Mining) from a recognized University/ Institute /equivalent Degree in the subject directly relevant to the position.

Desirable

• Post Graduate in Engineering in the same discipline/MBA of 2 years duration/ Ph.D., from a recognised University/institution.

Work Experience (as on date of Notification)

• At least 25 years of professional experience in the Coal/Thermal sector with Central/State Government/Public Sector undertakings.
• Of these 25 years, at least 15 years of experience in Construction, Designing, Development, Operation & Maintenance of Thermal Power Plants/Coal mines.
• Of these 15 years, at least 3 years of cumulative service at senior level positions of General Manager/Superintending Engineer and Chief Engineer/Chief General Manager/Executive Director, or an equivalent rank, in the Central/State Government/Public Sector Undertakings of the Coal/Thermal sector, as on the date of Notification.

OR

Officers of Organized Group ‘A’ Services

• Officers of Organized Group ‘A’ Services (such as IRTS/IRMS etc.) of the Central Government/State Government working at the appropriate level are exempted from the educational qualifications above.
• They should have at least 5 years of cumulative experience at a senior level during the last ten years in Coal Procurement/Coal Linkage Management, Coal Mining, Railway Freight and Rake Management, Port Operations, Transportation and Logistics, Fuel Supply Agreements, Coal Quality Management, Materials/Supply Chain Management, and/or associated Commercial and Contract Management functions.
• They have to work on deputation as per the terms and conditions of deputation of their parent department.

Age Limit

The maximum age for the APGENCO Director (Coal & Logistics) post is 65 years, as on the date of Notification (2 November 2026). The notice does not mention any age relaxation.

Other Conditions

• The candidate should have sound health.
• In the application’s declaration, the applicant certifies that he or she has not been disqualified to act as a Director under Section 274 or any other relevant section of the Indian Companies Act, 1956.
• The applicant also certifies that he or she is not facing any charge of, nor has ever been convicted for, any act of moral turpitude or economic offence.

Pay and Terms

• Tenure: Initially for a term of two years. The tenure may be extended for one year at a time, up to a maximum of two extensions.
• Extension decisions: Made after approval of the competent authority, on the recommendation of the Selection Committee, based on the Director’s yearly assessment report. Only candidates with an outstanding assessment should be considered for re-appointment.
• Government servants: A person selected who is already a Government servant will have to seek retirement and retire before appointment.
• Group ‘A’ Service officers: Work on deputation as per the terms and conditions of deputation of their parent department.
• Place of work: APGENCO Corporate Office, Vidyut Soudha, Vijayawada.

APGENCO Recruitment 2026 Job Description

The Director (Coal & Logistics) is a Member of the Board of Directors of APGENCO and reports to the Managing Director. The notice gives the job description and responsibilities as “As decided and entrusted by the Board/Managing Director/APGENCO from time to time.”

Selection Process

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their experience profile for a personal interview. Submitting an application does not by itself entitle a candidate to be called for interview.

Important Instructions

• APGENCO will not entertain any information furnished by the candidate after submission.
