Selection Process

The Selection Committee of the institute selects candidates based on their bio-data at the walk-in interview. Candidates must present their thesis and publications in PowerPoint and should bring them on a pen-drive. The committee’s panel is valid for 06 (six) months only. Being selected on merit does not give a right to appointment, because the institute decides on appointing the candidates the committee recommends.

Service Conditions

• The appointment is under the 89 days Senior Residency programme.
• The posts are non-practising. Private practice of any kind, direct or indirect, including laboratory work, is prohibited, and an appointment will be terminated if this rule is broken.
• Selected candidates must sign a legal bond. If they quit or resign mid-way, they must pay one month’s emoluments for every year of the Sr. Residency programme not completed.
• Living on campus is compulsory if accommodation is provided. If it is not provided, HRA is paid as per rule.
• Pay + NPA is paid, along with other allowances as per rule.

How to Apply for IGIMS Senior Resident Recruitment 2026

1. Download the application form (proforma for the post of Senior Resident) from the IGIMS website.
2. Get a demand draft for Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST) in favour of the Director, IGIMS, payable at Patna, and enter its details in the form.
3. Fill in the form: advertisement number, post and department, NMC/State Medical Council registration number, date of birth, category, addresses, qualifications starting from MBBS (marks, percentage and attempts), any experience after the MD/DNB, publications and presentations, and employment status. Attach a recent photograph and sign the declaration.
4. Report on 5 November 2026 at 09:00 AM to the Department of Anaesthesiology, First floor, near OT complex, IGIMS, Patna.

Documents to Bring

• The filled application form, with photocopies of all supporting certificates and documents.
• Originals proving age, qualifications, registration and the other details in the form.
• Thesis and publications as a PowerPoint presentation on a pen-drive, plus a list of publications and presentations as per NMC guidelines, with reprints or certificates of presentations.
• A No Objection Certificate from the employer for candidates employed in Government, Semi-Government or any other organisation. Without it, they will not be considered. Candidates who are not employed must state in writing that they are not employed anywhere and are not doing any course.
• SC/ST: a caste certificate issued by the Circle Officer of the respective district/circle of Bihar, with a domicile certificate.
• EBC (MBC)/BC: a caste certificate with exemption from the creamy layer, issued by the Circle Officer, if claiming reservation. EWS candidates need an EWS certificate issued by the Circle Officer.
• A declaration stating whether you have filled in the Declaration form and appeared before the NMC Team for any medical college in the current year.

Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview. The Director may reject or accept any application without giving a reason and may cancel the advertisement.
