Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has announced vacancy for the post of Director (Research & Development). Candidates applying for this leadership position must be an Engineering graduate preferably in Electronics/ Electronics & Communication/ Communication/Electronics & Telecommunications/ Computer Science/ AI/ML, with a minimum age of 45 years as on 1 April 2027. The appointment shall be for a period of five years from the date of joining or upto the date of superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier, with a pay scale of Rs. 1,80,000 – 3,40,000 (IDA). Educational Qualification

Experience

Employment Status and Pay Scale Eligibility

• Must be employed in a regular capacity in Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE), Central Government Group ‘A’ Officers (including Armed Forces/All India Services/Public Sector Banks/Financial Institutions/Autonomous Bodies), State Public Sector Enterprises (SPSE) with annual turnover of Rs. 5,000 crore or more, or Private Sector Companies/Joint Ventures/Federations with annual turnover of Rs. 5,000 crore or more.
• Eligible internal pay scales include Rs. 120000-280000 (IDA) Post 01.01.2017 (E8 Grade) and various pre-revised IDA and CDA scales specified in the notification.

Pay and Terms

The post carries a scale of pay of Rs. 180000 – 340000 (IDA). The appointment shall be for a period of five years from the date of joining or up to the date of superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Central Government Officers and officers from Public Sector Banks, Financial Institutions, and Autonomous Bodies will be eligible for consideration only on immediate absorption basis.

The Director (R&D) is a member of the Board of Directors and reports to the Chairman and Managing Director of BEL. The key responsibilities include:

• To lay down the R&D policy of the company and formulate the strategy for development of components, modules, sub-systems, equipment, systems and systems of systems to maintain market leadership in Aerospace, Defence and Civilian Electronics and promote indigenisation under the Atma Nirbhar Scheme.
• To continuously study market requirements and technology advancements in India and abroad to update company technology and products.
• To provide functional guidance and direction to all Heads of Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and Unit Heads regarding technology planning, road maps, new product development, and product upgradation.
• To provide direction and guidance to Development and Engineering (D&E) groups and SBU/Unit Heads in preparing annual and long-term plans.
• To co-ordinate development activities with Defence R&D Organisations, national laboratories like CSIR, research institutions, and academia.
• To develop expertise and establish facilities at BEL’s Central Research Laboratories (CRL), Centres of Excellence (CoEs), and Product Development & Innovation Centre (PDIC).
• To provide indigenous solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner, addressing obsolescence and providing product upgrades by leveraging start-ups and MSMEs.
• To ensure Intellectual Property (IP) creation, IP Rights Valuation, and Protection.
