MHRB Assam M&HO-I Recruitment 2026 Notification Out – Apply Online for 560 Medical & Health Officer Posts

The Medical and Health Recruitment Board (MHRB), Assam, has released Notification No. MHRB/73/M&HO-I/2026/5051 dated 3rd September 2026, inviting online applications to fill 560 posts of Medical & Health Officer-I (M&HO-I) or equivalent ranks under the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam.

Quick facts: MHRB Assam is recruiting for 560 M&HO-I posts under the Health & Family Welfare Department. MHRB M&HO-I Vacancy 2026 – Post Details

A total of 560 posts of Medical & Health Officer-I are being filled, inclusive of backlog vacancies. The category-wise breakup, including women’s reservation within each category, is given below.

In addition, 22 posts (4% of total) are horizontally reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and 11 posts are reserved for Ex-servicemen, both within the overall 560 vacancies.

The notification states that the actual number of posts, including the reservation breakup, may vary as per requirement in due course, and any change will be intimated before the date of interview/examination.

MHRB M&HO-I Eligibility Criteria

• The candidate must have Indian citizenship as defined under Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.
• Government doctors already serving under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Directorate of Health Services (DHS), National Health Mission (NHM), Assam, or other Government of Assam agencies are eligible to apply, and no separate No Objection Certificate (NOC) is required from them to apply.
• Candidates already employed in Corporations/Boards or in private employment may apply with intimation to their present employer, and must produce an NOC from their employer at the time of document verification/interview.

MHRB M&HO-I Qualification

• The candidate must hold an MBBS degree from any university recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
• The candidate must be registered under the Assam Medical Council.

MHRB M&HO-I Age Limit

As on 01.01.2026, a candidate should not be less than 21 years and not more than 38 years of age, as per Government Notification AAP.115/72/Pt.I/194 dated 10.03.2008. The upper age limit is relaxable for candidates of reserved categories as per existing provisions/extant rules; specific relaxation figures by category are not specified in the notification.

MHRB M&HO-I Salary

Selected candidates will draw pay in the scale of Rs. 30,000 – Rs. 1,10,000 plus Grade Pay of Rs. 12,700, along with other allowances admissible under the Rules of the Government of Assam. Government servants joining service on or after 1st February 2005 will be governed by the New Pension Scheme 2005 rather than the Assam Service (Pension) Rules, 1969.

MHRB M&HO-I Application Fee

The fee can be deposited through a Treasury Challan under the Head of Account “0210-Medical and Public Health-01-Urban Health Services-800-Other Receipt,” or paid online through the Government Receipt Accounting System (GRAS) at https://assamegras.gov.in. A printed copy of the Treasury Challan generated through GRAS must be submitted at the time of interview, with the applied post mentioned in the Remarks column. The fee is non-refundable, and no other mode of fee payment is accepted.

MHRB M&HO-I Selection Process

The selection procedure has not yet been notified. As per the advertisement, the Board will decide and notify the selection procedure separately, based on the number of applications received for the posts.

3. Log in using your mobile number and password.
4. Fill up the online application form for the M&HO-I post.
5. Upload the required photograph and signature; applications without these are liable to be summarily rejected.
6. Submit the form – no further changes will be applicable once submitted.
7. Deposit the application fee via Treasury Challan or GRAS, as applicable, and retain the receipt.

Candidates need not submit testimonials or certificates at the time of online application. However, original testimonials regarding educational qualification, date of birth, caste, PWD status, treasury challan, and work experience must be produced at the time of interview, along with self-attested copies for submission to the Board.

MHRB M&HO-I Important Instructions

• Applications incomplete in any respect, such as without photograph and signature, are liable to be rejected summarily.
• Only candidates fulfilling all terms and conditions of the advertisement for the post applied for will be entertained.
• Candidates already employed in Corporations/Boards or private employment may apply with intimation to their present employer, and must submit an NOC at the time of document verification, and a release order at the time of joining.
• The Board reserves the right to cancel, alter, or modify the advertisement or its terms and conditions without prior notice.
• All matters not specifically covered in the advertisement will be decided by the Board.
