The Office of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Uttara Kannada, Karwar (Uttara Kannada District Court) has released Notification No. 1/2026, dated 5 August 2026, inviting online applications for 13 Process Server posts and 65 Peon posts across its various subordinate courts, a total of 78 vacancies. Eligible candidates can apply online from 17 August 2026 to 16 September 2026 (11:59 PM), with fee payment permitted until 17 September 2026.

A total of 78 vacancies are notified – 13 Process Server posts and 65 Peon posts – distributed across reservation categories as shown below. Notes on the vacancy tables:

  • Under SC (Category-C), preference is for the 59 identified Most Backward Castes; if suitable candidates are not available, other castes under Category-C will be considered.
  • Benchmark disability reservation covers blindness and low vision, locomotor disability (including cerebral palsy, cured leprosy, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and multiple sclerosis/muscular dystrophy), and deaf/hard-of-hearing candidates, as defined in the notification’s disability sub-categories.

Uttara Kannada District Court Eligibility Criteria

Uttara Kannada District Court Qualification

  • Process Server: Pass in SSLC examination or equivalent qualification. Preference will be given to candidates holding a Heavy/Light Motor Vehicle (HMV/LMV) driving licence.
  • Peon: Pass in SSLC examination or equivalent qualification. Candidates must be able to read and write Kannada.

Uttara Kannada District Court Age Limit

Candidates must have completed 18 years of age as on the last date fixed for submission of application, and must not exceed the following maximum age limits:

Category-IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB Not exceeding 43 years
SC/ST and Category-I Not exceeding 45 years

As per Government Order No. ಸಿಆಸುಇ 262 ಸೇನೆನಿ 2025 dated 29 January 2026, an additional 5-year relaxation has been added to the maximum age limit above (this relaxation is limited to this one recruitment). Further age relaxation under Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977, Rule 6(2), applies as follows:

  • Government/quasi-government/local authority/corporation employees: relaxation equal to the period of service rendered, or 10 years, whichever is less.
  • Ex-servicemen: relaxation equal to the period of service in the armed forces, plus 3 years.
  • Candidates with physical disability: 10 years relaxation.
  • Widowed candidates: 10 years relaxation.

  • Fee must be paid only online through the State Bank of India Collect page, using net banking, internet banking, debit card, or credit card.
  • Fee must be paid in the name of “Principal District & Sessions Judge, Uttara Kannada, Karwar” only; fees paid under any other name will not be considered, and such applications will be rejected.
  • No mode other than online payment – such as demand draft, postal order, money order, cheque, or cash – will be accepted.
  • Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
  • Applications of candidates who have not paid the prescribed fee will be rejected.
  • Candidates should confirm fee payment status only with SBI; the office is not responsible for any technical failure during the payment process.

Uttara Kannada District Court Selection Process

  • Process Server: Candidates are shortlisted for interview based on percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying educational examination, in a ratio of 1:25 per post (as per reservation for the notified posts). The interview carries a total of 10 marks.
  • Peon: Candidates are shortlisted for interview based on percentage of marks obtained in the SSLC examination, in a ratio of 1:10 per post. The interview carries a total of 10 marks.
  • Final selection for both posts is based on marks scored in the interview.
  • If two or more candidates score equal marks, seniority in age is used to determine merit order, with the older candidate ranked higher.

How to Apply for Uttara Kannada District Court Recruitment 2026

  2. Read all instructions given on the online portal carefully before starting the application.
  3. Fill in the online application form with correct personal, educational, and category details, and a valid email address and mobile number (these cannot be corrected once submitted).
  4. Upload all required documents and certificates as specified on the portal.
  5. Pay the applicable fee online via the SBI Collect page and upload the fee payment receipt, on or before 17 September 2026, 11:59 PM.
  6. Submit the application on or before 16 September 2026, 11:59 PM. If more than one application is submitted, only the last submitted application will be considered.

Documents Required for Uttara Kannada District Court Application

  • SSLC original marks card, or marks card of an equivalent qualification (for both education and date of birth proof)
  • Original birth certificate (if SSLC marks card is not used for date-of-birth proof)
  • Valid original caste/category certificate, in the prescribed Karnataka Government format, for SC/ST/Category-I/IIA/IIB/IIIA/IIIB candidates claiming reservation
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities certificate from a competent authority, for candidates claiming disability reservation
  • Discharge/release certificate from the District Sainik Board or competent authority, for ex-servicemen candidates
  • Rural candidate certificate, in the prescribed format, for candidates claiming rural reservation
  • Transgender certificate under Section 6 of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, for candidates claiming transgender reservation
  • No Objection Certificate from the concerned department, for candidates already employed in State/Central Government or public sector undertakings, if selected
  • Project-displaced person certificate, in the prescribed format as per Government Order dated 23.11.2000, for candidates claiming this reservation
  • Identity proof: original Aadhaar card, voter ID, or similar document
  • Character/conduct certificate: two certificates confirming good conduct from respectable persons (non-relatives) who know the candidate well, with signature and seal, plus one certificate from the head/principal of the last institution attended, with educational details, signature and seal – all obtained within the last six months
  • HMV/LMV driving licence, where applicable (Process Server post, for preferential consideration)
  • Fee payment receipt (for candidates who paid the applicable fee)

Uttara Kannada District Court Recruitment 2026 Important Instructions

  • Incomplete applications will be rejected without any further correspondence.
  • All instructions/communication from the recruiting authority will be sent to the email address and mobile number provided in the application; the office is not responsible if a candidate does not receive such communication.
  • Candidates must attend the interview/examination venue notified by the office at their own expense.
  • Any attempt by a candidate to seek external support (from staff or non-staff sources) during the selection process will result in disqualification.
  • If information provided in the application is found to be false at any stage – during scrutiny, after recruitment, or after appointment – the candidature or appointment will be cancelled/terminated, and criminal proceedings will be initiated against the candidate for furnishing false information.
  • This recruitment is subject to the final outcome of writ petitions No. 200448/2025, 17968/2025, and 3145/2023 pending before the Hon’ble Karnataka High Court.
