IOB Security Guard Eligibility Criteria 2026

• Candidate must be an Ex-Servicemen/Ex-Agniveer from the Army, Navy, or Air Force, as per the eligibility definitions in this notification.
• Candidates still serving in the Armed Forces whose Specific Period of Engagement (SPE) completes on or before 30 September 2026 are also eligible to apply.
• Character must have been “EXEMPLARY” at the time of valid discharge from the Armed Forces.
• Educational Qualification: A pass in 10th standard or its equivalent, but the candidate should not have passed Graduation or its equivalent examination.
• Candidate must be able to speak, read and write in Tamil.
• Medical Standard: Minimum SHAPE-1 or AYE (whichever applicable) at the time of valid discharge from the Armed Forces.
• Nationality: Citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee (pre-1962), or a person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India, subject to conditions.

IOB Security Guard Selection Process 2026

Selection is in three stages: Online Objective Test, Local Language (Tamil) Test, and Physical Fitness Test.

1. Objective Type Test (Online)

2. Local Language Test (Tamil)

Conducted separately for a maximum of 20 marks. The overall cut-off scores for General and Reserved category candidates in the Online Test and Local Language Test will be decided by the Bank based on candidates’ performance.

3. Physical Fitness Test (100 Marks)

• Push-Ups/Sit-Ups: 30+ reps = 30 marks, 21–29 reps = 25 marks, 15–20 reps = 20 marks, 14 or below = Fail.
• 1 km Run: under 4 min = 30 marks, 4–5 min = 20 marks, 5–6 min = 10 marks, over 6 min = Fail.
• Candidates must compulsorily pass each of the four Physical Fitness sub-tests with the minimum prescribed marks; only one attempt is allowed per sub-test.
• Candidates must submit a medical fitness certificate (not older than 15 days) from a Civil Assistant Surgeon or above, prior to the Physical Fitness Test.
• The Physical Fitness Test will be conducted at IOB Central Office, Chennai.

1. Visit www.iob.bank.in, go to the “Careers” page, and open “Recruitment of Security Guards”.
2. Read the detailed advertisement carefully and click “Apply Online” for the post.
3. Register online by clicking “Click here to Register Online”; note your Registration Number and Password sent via email/SMS.
4. Upload your scanned photograph, signature, live photo capture, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration as per the specified format and size.
5. Fill in all required details in the online application form carefully; ensure names match your certificates exactly.
6. Click “COMPLETE REGISTRATION” and take a printout of the submitted application form for your records.
7. Submit the application on or before 14 September 2026.

• Printout of the valid Physical Fitness Test call letter
• System-generated printout of the online application form
• Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate or SSLC/Std. X certificate with DOB)
• Photo Identity Proof (Passport/Aadhaar/e-Aadhaar/PAN Card/Driving Licence/Voter’s Card)
• Mark sheets and certificates for educational qualifications
• Discharge Book
• Ex-Servicemen Identity Card
• SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificate in the prescribed format, where applicable (OBC certificate must carry the Non-Creamy Layer clause, valid as on 14 September 2026)
• Any other relevant documents supporting eligibility

Important Conditions

• Only candidates willing to work in shifts (24x7x365) should apply.
• Pre-Examination Training is available (free of cost) for SC/ST/Minority Communities/Ex-Servicemen candidates at Chennai; travel, boarding and lodging expenses must be borne by the candidate.
• Candidates serving in Government/Quasi-Government/PSU/Nationalised Bank roles must produce an original NOC from their employer at the time of interview/selection stage.
• Candidates found using unfair means, impersonation, or canvassing will be disqualified and may be debarred from future Bank recruitment, in addition to facing criminal prosecution.
• Appointment is provisional and subject to medical fitness, and satisfactory verification of character, antecedents, and caste certificates (wherever applicable).
• No request for change of examination centre, Physical Fitness Test date, or registered email ID will be entertained.
• Any dispute arising from this recruitment is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts at Chennai.
• The Bank reserves the right to change the selection procedure, cancel, or stall the recruitment process, partially or fully, at any stage.
