The Madhya Pradesh Karmchari Chayan Mandal (MP ESB), Bhopal, has released the rule book for the Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 for In-Service Teachers Teaching Primary and Secondary Classes. This exam is being conducted as a special eligibility test exclusively for currently serving teachers, following the Supreme Court of India’s order dated 01.09.2025 in Civil Appeal Nos. 1385/2025 and 1386/2025. Eligible in-service teachers who have not previously cleared the TET can apply online at esb.mp.gov.in from 21.08.2026 to 04.09.2026, with the exam scheduled from 12.10.2026 (Monday).
The notification covers two separate levels – a Primary Teacher Eligibility Test and a Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test – both meant only for in-service teachers currently teaching in government or non-government schools who have not yet qualified the TET. This exam’s result is important because, per the Supreme Court’s order, in-service teachers recruited before the RTE Act with more than 5 years of service remaining must qualify the TET by 31st August 2028 to continue in service; those with less than 5 years of service left may continue without qualifying TET but cannot be considered for promotion without it. Importantly, this eligibility/result will not be valid for future direct recruitment to government teacher posts – it applies only to the continued service eligibility of existing in-service teachers.
