Eligibility for BHEL Apprentice Recruitment 2026-27 varies by category, but preference across all three goes to candidates from Tamil Nadu institutions.

Only candidates who completed their qualifying course (Degree/Diploma/ITI) in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible; qualifications via Distance Learning, Part-Time, Correspondence, or Sandwich courses are not considered. Candidates already undergoing or having completed apprenticeship elsewhere under the applicable Apprentices Act, or with one year or more of work experience, are not eligible. Graduate Apprentice applicants who hold a postgraduate qualification (including an integrated PG course) are also not eligible, as per the NATS process manual.
BHEL Apprentice Age Limit
The age limit is common across all three categories: minimum 18 years and maximum 27 years, as on 1 August 2026, for General category candidates.

BHEL Apprentice Selection Process
- Selection is based on fulfilling the conditions specified in the respective notification.
- A merit list is drawn based on marks secured in the qualifying examination (Degree/Diploma/ITI marks, as applicable).
- In case of a tie in marks, the candidate older in age is preferred.
- Selected candidates must meet the minimum physical fitness standards under Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, and any amendments.
- No TA/DA is paid for certificate verification or for joining the training upon selection.
Reservation
Out of the training vacancies in each category, 19% is reserved for SC, 1% for ST, 27% for OBC (NCL), 10% for EWS, and 4% for Physically Challenged candidates. Reservation for dependents of regular BHEL employees (serving, retired, or deceased) is governed as per company rules. Graduate and Technician Apprentice
- Register on the MHRD NATS 2.0 New Portal at nats.education.gov.in and note the 12/16-digit Student Enrolment Number.
- Apply online on the BHEL Trichy portal at trichy.bhel.com, via the “Apprenticeship Application Portal (TRICHY)” link, using the NATS enrolment number.
- Register on the BHEL portal, verify via OTP, and create a password.
- Log in, fill the application form, and upload all required documents.

Trade Apprentice
- Register on the RDSDE (NAPS) Portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and note the 10-digit RDSDE (NAPS) registration number.
- Complete mandatory Aadhaar verification and e-KYC, ensuring name, date of birth, and gender match the SSLC certificate.
- Apply online on the BHEL Trichy portal at trichy.bhel.com using the RDSDE (NAPS) registration number.
- Register on the BHEL portal, verify via OTP, create a password, log in, and fill the application form.
- Upload all required documents and submit; retain a copy for Document Verification.
Only the online mode of application is accepted; applications received in any other mode or form will be treated as rejected.
BHEL Apprentice Important Instructions
- Candidates must have an active email ID and mobile number valid for at least the next one year; all future communication will be through website, email, or SMS alerts only.
- Candidates are wholly responsible for the correctness of information in their online application.
- Incomplete applications, or those not meeting eligibility criteria, will be treated as rejected.
- Canvassing in any form will render the candidate ineligible.
- Preference is given to candidates who passed their qualifying exam from Government recognized institutions in Tamil Nadu; other candidates are considered only if Tamil Nadu candidates are unavailable for a notified branch.
