All qualifications must be from a University/Institution/Board recognized by the Government of India. Diploma via a recognized lateral entry scheme (Class-XII (Sc)/ITI admitted to 2nd year) is also eligible, subject to the prescribed percentage on the aggregate of 4 semesters. Higher professional qualifications such as B.E./B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, or MCA make a candidate ineligible; possession of such qualification at the time of joining can lead to cancellation of the offer.

Important: Cumulative age relaxation is not available, either within the above items or in combination with any other item. Only a Secondary/Higher Secondary Board certificate will be accepted as age proof.
Reservation & PwBD Provisions
SC/ST/OBC(NCL) & EWS
- Certificates must be in the prescribed proforma for Central Government posts, clearly indicating caste, the Act/Order under which it is recognized, and the candidate’s ordinary residence.
- OBC certificates must confirm the candidate does not belong to the creamy layer, and must be issued on or after 01.04.2026.
- Only communities in the Central Government’s common OBC list are treated as OBC by CPCL, being a Central PSU.
- EWS candidates need an Income & Asset certificate as per DoPT O.M. No. 36039/1/2019-Estt.(Res) dated 31.01.2019, issued on or after 01.04.2026.
- No change in community status declared in the online application will be allowed later.
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
Reservation applies on a horizontal basis, only in identified disciplines. Given the hazardous nature of refinery operations, PwBD reservation for CPCL02 (Mechanical) and CPCL03 (Electrical) is restricted to specific functional disability categories:

Ex-Servicemen (ExSM)
- Applied horizontally across all categories (UR/SC/ST/OBC/EWS), including disabled servicemen.
- Only candidates released/retired, or whose engagement period ends on or before 31.12.2026, are eligible; a release letter and self-declaration are required at joining.
- Ex-servicemen already in regular Government employment get age relaxation but not reservation benefit.
- If sufficient eligible ExSM candidates are unavailable, reserved posts may be filled by other candidates.

CPCL Recruitment 2026 Selection Process & Exam Pattern
Selection comprises a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Verification of shortlisted candidates, and a qualifying Skill, Proficiency and/or Physical Test (SPPT).

- Objective, multiple-choice questions; total CBT duration 2 hours.
- Negative marking: ¼ mark deducted for each wrong answer.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 40% in CBT for General/OBC/EWS; relaxed by 5% (i.e. 35%) for SC/ST/PwBD candidates against reserved positions.
- Candidates are shortlisted for SPPT in a ratio of approximately 1:3 (three candidates per post, factoring in reserved posts); tied candidates at the cut-off are all included.
- SPPT is of a qualifying nature (does not carry marks toward merit).
- Category-wise merit list is drawn from CBT marks, considering only candidates who qualify the SPPT; final selection is subject to being found medically fit.

Payment is accepted online only, via SBI e-Pay (Debit/Credit Card, UPI, or Net Banking). Fees once paid are not refundable under any circumstances, including if a candidate applies for more than one post (only one application per candidate is permitted).
How to Apply for CPCL Recruitment 2026
- Visit www.cpcl.co.in, read the instructions, tick the declaration checkbox, and click Continue.
- Select the post from the “Post Applying For” dropdown and complete new-user signup with basic personal details; validate your e-mail ID and mobile number via OTP.
- Log in using the User ID and password sent to your e-mail/mobile.
- Fill in Personal Details (parents’ names, marital status, photo ID, addresses), then Academic Details and Work Experience (mandatory for all four posts).
- Upload a recent passport-size photograph (20–60 KB, JPG/JPEG/PNG) and scanned signature (10–30 KB, JPG/JPEG/PNG).
- Upload scanned documents/certificates in PDF (60 KB–2 MB).
- Review all details on the Preview page, using “Edit” links to correct any section if needed.
- Click Proceed to Payment, accept the declaration, and click Submit — no further changes are possible after this.
- Complete payment via Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI (where applicable), then download the application form and payment receipt from the dashboard.
Important: Each candidate may apply for only one post using a single e-mail ID and mobile number. Candidates need not send application printouts or certificate copies by post; candidature is considered purely on the strength of information declared online.
Important Conditions
- Documents relating to Age/Qualification/Experience/Category will be verified at the Document Verification stage; selection is subject to verification of Caste/Character & Antecedents.
- Candidates employed in Government organizations/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies should apply through proper channel, or produce a No Objection Certificate at Document Verification.
- SC/ST candidates called for CBT/SPPT/Document Verification are eligible for single Second Class rail/bus fare reimbursement (if distance is 30 km or more), subject to submission of tickets and community certificate.
- Late reporting (after the time specified on the admit card) will result in the candidate not being permitted to take the CBT.
- Calculators, mobile phones, pagers, smart watches, and other communication devices are not permitted in the examination premises.
- Any legal proceedings arising from this advertisement fall under the sole jurisdiction of courts/tribunals in Chennai.
- Providing incorrect information or process violation, detected at any stage (even after selection), leads to disqualification with retrospective effect.
- Canvassing in any form leads to disqualification.
