IIT Bhilai JRF Recruitment 2026 – Walkin

The walk-in interview for the JRF post at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bhilai (Durg, Chhattisgarh) is on 12 November 2026 at 11 am, in ED2 Room-405A. IIT Bhilai has invited Indian nationals for 1 JRF position in an ISRO-funded research project, with a salary of 37,000/- + HRA for a temporary period of 89 days. About the Project

The post is in the ISRO-funded research project “Development of in situ engineered additive manufacturing technique for fabricating Inconel 718 parts”. The project aims to develop an in-situ engineering methodology for deposition and online control of Inconel 718 parts through the Laser-Additive manufacturing process. The Direct Energy Deposition system at IIT Bhilai will be used to develop online quality monitoring and control strategies involving a Machine learning based approach.

The Principal Investigator is Purnendu Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bhilai, Kutelabhata, Khapri, Durg, Chhattisgarh- 491001.

Posts and Eligibility

One JRF position is open. The essential qualification is an M.Tech / M.E. or equivalent degree, OR a BTech / B.E. or equivalent degree with a valid Gate Score. The notice adds “preferably 2 years relevant experience” in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or Computer Science Engineering, or related areas from a recognized Organization. The age limit is 35 years; the notice prints no cut-off date for age and no age relaxation. Applicants must be Indian nationals.

Desirable

Preference will be given to candidates with working experience relevant to the project. Candidates with expertise in the following are strongly encouraged to apply:

• Expertise in signal processing and image and video analysis
• Understanding of Additive Manufacturing and Laser based processes
• Expertise in Python and MATLAB
• Experience or familiarity with Manufacturing Processes, Superalloys, Digital control

Pay and Duration

The position is temporary for a period of 89 days, and subject to extension as per IIT Bhilai Norms. The appointment will be governed by the terms and conditions of the Institute/funding agency particularly applicable to the project as and when required. What Happens on the Day

Selection is by a selection committee, whose decision is final. If the number of shortlisted candidates called for the interview is large, the committee may restrict the number of candidates to a reasonable limit after considering qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.

• No TA/DA will be provided to the candidate for the interview.
• The PI is not responsible for postal/courier delay or any other reason for non-receipt of the document at the specified time; non-receipt will result in disqualification/rejection of the application.
• The selected candidate will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer.
• The fellowship may be terminated with a 30-day notice before completion of the tenure if performance till date is not deemed satisfactory.
