State Bank of India (SBI), Central Recruitment & Promotion Department has announced 6 vacancies for Specialist Cadre Officers comprising GM & Chief AI officer, DGM (Risk and Operational Analytics), DGM (AI Governance and Compliance), DGM (Data Engineering, Model Application Dev and AI Ops), AI Solution Architect, and Enterprise AI Architect posts on a Fixed Term Employment basis. Eligibility and qualification requirements vary according to the post, as specified in the official notification. Eligible candidates can apply online from 19 October 2026 to 9 November 2026. The selection process consists of shortlisting, interview, and CTC negotiation under advertisement number CRPD/SCO/2026-27/30.

Vacancy Details

State Bank of India has announced 6 vacancies on a Fixed Term Employment basis. All vacancies belong to the Unreserved (UR) category.

Who Can Apply

The cut-off date for eligibility regarding educational qualification, age, and post-qualification work experience is 30.09.2026. Candidates must be Indian citizens.

Note on Experience: Training and teaching experience will not be counted towards eligibility. Individual contributor role experience does not count towards the mandatory senior leadership years.

Specialization Certificate: In cases where the certificate of degree/diploma does not specify the field of specialization, the candidate must produce a certificate from the concerned university/college specifically mentioning the specialization.

Important Eligibility Conditions and Restrictions:

• Candidates are not allowed to apply for more than one post. In case a candidate applies for more than one post, only the last valid (completed) application will be retained, and the application fee paid for the other registrations will stand forfeited.
• Candidates against whom there is/are adverse reports regarding character & antecedents, or moral turpitude are not eligible to apply.
• Candidates serving in Govt./Quasi Govt. offices, Public Sector Undertakings including Nationalized Banks and Financial Institutions must submit a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) from their employer at the time of interview, failing which their candidature will not be considered and travelling expenses will not be paid.
• In case of selection, candidates will be required to produce a proper discharge certificate from their current employer at the time of taking up the engagement.

Pay and Tenure

Annual CTC is negotiable and will depend upon experience, current emoluments, and place of posting.

The variable pay structure, depending on the performance score of the officer, is as follows:

• 99% to 100%: 100% of variable pay
• 97% to 98.99%: 90% of variable pay
• 94% to 96.99%: 80% of variable pay
• 90% to 93.99%: 70% of variable pay
• Below 90%: Nil

Tenure and Contract Terms: Engagement is on a Fixed Term Employment basis for 3 years, which may be renewed for a further period of 2 years at the discretion of the Bank at mutually agreed terms and conditions (total engagement period not to exceed 5 years). The contract can be terminated by giving 3 months’ notice from either side or payment/surrender of 3 months’ compensation amount in lieu thereof.

SBI Recruitment 2026 Job Description

GM & Chief AI Officer

Job Profile and Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the implementation and operations of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, and parsing tools to improve operational efficiency and mitigate risk.
• Design and implement big data scalable workflow systems including Enterprise AI Platform for generative and agentic AI.
• Deliver AI solutions at scale with operational and analytical integrations including Cloudera Data Lakehouse and enterprise API platforms.
• Deliver new functionality for internal production and client delivery platforms.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Business, Quality Assurance, Data Operation, and IT Infrastructure.
• Oversee business collaboration via permanent control towers for AI/data products and ensure seamless integration into formal business processes.
• Ensure compliance with internal and regulatory norms and align with Bank governance standards and top management directives.
• Oversee independent model validation team and evaluate ongoing risk and performance in models.

DGM (Risk and Operational Analytics)

Job Profile and Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Bank’s risk and operational analytics function and establish an enterprise-wide roadmap across Risk, Compliance, Business, and Operations.
• Lead design, development, validation, implementation, and operations of AI/ML models for early-warning systems, collections, fraud prevention, operational risk, financial risk, and process optimization.
• Integrate analytical models and decision engines into core banking, loan origination, and operational workflows via enterprise data and API platforms.
• Establish human-in-the-loop controls, override mechanisms, audit trails, and escalation procedures for material decisions.
• Prioritise high-impact use cases based on loss reduction, regulatory importance, customer impact, efficiency, and feasibility.
• Drive responsible adoption of generative and agentic AI for risk intelligence, document analysis, and operational decision support.

DGM (AI Governance and Compliance)

Job Profile and Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Bank’s AI governance and compliance function across ML, generative AI, and agentic AI.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce AI governance policies, standards, risk-classification methodologies, and control frameworks.
• Oversee independent validation, periodic review, and governance controls for material models and AI-enabled systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable RBI directions, Digital Personal Data Protection Act and Rules, and information security norms.
• Coordinate AI risk assessments, privacy impact assessments, security reviews, and approval processes before production deployment.
• Oversee third-party AI governance, vendor due diligence, contractual safeguards, and data-use restrictions.
• Convene or support governance committees and coordinate regulatory inspections and audit closures.

DGM (Data Engineering, Model Application Dev and AI Ops)

Job Profile and Key Responsibilities:

• Lead data engineering, model application development, and AI Ops functions to deliver scalable, secure data and AI pipelines.
• Design, develop, and operate enterprise data pipelines, model-serving platforms, and APIs in coordination with GITC.
• Establish engineering standards for MLOps, LLMOps, DevSecOps, testing, CI/CD, and release management.
• Automate deployment, monitoring, rollback, recalibration, and retirement for AI/ML models and agentic AI applications.
• Implement observability covering availability, latency, throughput, data quality, performance, capacity, and compute utilisation.
• Manage technology vendors, systems integrators, and platform providers.

AI Solution Architect

Job Profile and Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with business units and technology teams to identify, conceptualize, design, and implement scalable AI solutions.
• Translate business requirements into AI solution concepts, functional blueprints, and user journeys.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, enterprise architects, and application teams to develop implementable technical designs.
• Define AI risk controls, guardrails, human-in-the-loop mechanisms, and explainability requirements.
• Support development of business cases, evaluate alternative approaches, and guide PoCs and pilots.
• Create reusable solution patterns, templates, and blueprints for common AI use cases across the Bank.

Enterprise AI Architect

Job Profile and Key Responsibilities:

• Define, govern, and evolve the Bank’s enterprise AI architecture strategy and on-premises NVIDIA-based AI platform.
• Design and optimize GPU infrastructure and workload architectures leveraging NVIDIA AI Enterprise ecosystem.
• Lead architectural design of Generative AI, LLM solutions, RAG, and vector databases.
• Establish MLOps/LLMOps pipelines, model gateways, model serving mechanisms, and API integration strategies.
• Architect secure and scalable enterprise data platforms and enforce technology standards, security, resilience, and disaster recovery.
• Conduct architecture reviews and manage architecture exceptions.

1. Visit the official SBI careers portal and navigate to the current openings page.
2. Locate the link for Specialist Cadre Officers recruitment under advertisement CRPD/SCO/2026-27/30.
3. Register online by entering basic details to generate a provisional registration number and password. The facility for editing saved application details is available up to three times only before final submission.
4. Fill in the online application form carefully with educational, professional, and personal details.
5. Upload scanned copies of photograph, signature, biodata, resume, ID proof, age proof, educational certificates, experience certificates, salary slips/Form-16, and other required documents in the prescribed format and size.
6. Pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs. 750/- (exempted for SC/ST/PwBD) online using Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.
7. Submit the completed application form and print a copy of the system-generated application form and e-receipt for future reference.

Document Upload Specifications:

• Photograph: Recent passport style colour picture (20 kb to 50 kb, JPG/JPEG format, preferred dimensions 200 x 230 pixels, light-coloured or white background).
• Signature: Signed on white paper with Black Ink pen (10 kb to 20 kb, JPG/JPEG format, preferred dimensions 140 x 60 pixels; signatures in capital letters are not accepted).
• Other Documents: Biodata, Resume, ID proof, Proof of Date of Birth, Educational Certificates, Experience Certificates, Caste/EWS/PwBD certificate (if applicable), Form-16/Offer Letter/Latest Salary Slip, and CTC negotiation sheet must be uploaded in PDF format on A4 size, with file size not exceeding 500 kb each.

Selection and Interview

The selection process comprises three stages: Shortlisting, Interview, and CTC Negotiation.

• Shortlisting: Fulfilling minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee a call for interview. The shortlisting committee constituted by the Bank will decide shortlisting parameters to call an adequate number of candidates.
• Interview (100 Marks): The interview carries 100 marks. For the posts of GM & Chief AI officer, DGM (Risk and Operational Analytics), DGM (AI Governance and Compliance), and DGM (Data Engineering, Model Application Dev and AI Ops), shortlisted candidates must deliver a 10-minute presentation on their relevant job profile, projects undertaken, or milestones achieved. Qualifying marks in the interview are decided by the Bank. Intimation or call letters for the interview will be uploaded on the Bank’s website or sent by email; no hard copy will be sent.
• CTC Negotiation: CTC negotiation is conducted one-by-one with candidates at the time of interview or separately after the interview process.
• Merit List: The final merit list is prepared in descending order based solely on scores obtained in the interview. In case of a tie in cut-off marks, candidates are ranked according to age in descending order.

Travelling Allowance for Interview: Outstation candidates called for interview after shortlisting will be reimbursed the cost of travelling by Air fare (Economy Class) for the shortest route in India as follows:

• GM & Chief AI officer and all three DGM posts (Sl. No. 1 to 4): Reimbursement of actual Air Fare (Economy Class).
• AI Solution Architect and Enterprise AI Architect (Sl. No. 5 & 6): Reimbursement of Air Fare up to Rs. 15,000/- (Total for both sides) or actual fare, whichever is lower.
• Note: In case a candidate called for interview is found not satisfying the eligibility criteria (Age, Educational Qualification, Experience, etc.), he/she will neither be allowed to appear for the interview nor be entitled to reimbursement of any travelling expenses.
