Cochin Shipyard Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for Technician, Graduate Apprentices Posts

Cochin Shipyard (CSL AN Ship Repair Unit – CANSRU) has announced 6 vacancies for Graduate Apprentice (Electronics & Communication Engg.), Technician (Diploma) Apprentice (Mechanical Engg.), Technician (Diploma) Apprentice (Electrical Engg), and Technician (Diploma) Apprentice (Electronics and Communication Engg.) posts under its 2026 recruitment. The apprenticeship training duration will be for a period of one year on a contract basis, offering stipends of Rs. 15,000 per month and Rs. 13,000 per month by post. Eligible candidates can apply online from 14 October 2026 to 30 October 2026. The selection process involves short-listing based on percentage of marks obtained in basic prescribed qualification, certificate verification of short-listed candidates, and provisional selection subject to medical fitness.

Who Can Apply

Qualification

Candidates must possess the relevant minimum educational qualifications specified for each category:

• Category – I Graduate Apprentices: A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by a Statutory University or an Institution empowered to grant such degree by an Act of Parliament in relevant discipline, or Graduate examination of Professional bodies recognised by State or Central Government as equivalent.
• Category – II Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: A Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education established by a State Government, a University, or an Institution recognised by the State or Central Government in relevant discipline.
• Candidates with equivalent qualifications must submit an Equivalency Certificate issued by the competent authority.
• For conversion of Aggregate Grade Points (CGPA/OGPA/CPI) where criteria are undefined by the University/Institute, grade points must be multiplied by 10 to obtain the required percentage.

Age

Candidates must be above 18 years old as on 30.10.2026.

Who Cannot Apply

Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973 in any Government, Public Sector, or Private Organisation are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.

Reservation

Government of India Directives on reservation applicable for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) will be strictly followed.

Stipend and Training Period

The duration of the apprenticeship training is one year as per the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973. Category I Graduate Apprentices receive a stipend of ₹15,000/- per month, while Category II Technician (Diploma) Apprentices receive ₹13,000/- per month. No travel expenses, boarding, or lodging will be provided by CSL during the training period.

1. Visit the official apprenticeship portal at nats.education.gov.in.
2. For students registered in the old portal (portal.mhrdnats.gov.in), activate the account using the forgot password option at the student login page, then log in and complete the application form.
3. For students with no prior registration, click on Student, select Student Register, complete the application form, and obtain the unique Enrolment Number.
4. Log in to the portal and search for “COCHIN SHIPYARD LIMITED” under “Apply against advertised vacancies”.
5. Click Apply to submit the application and verify that the status reads “applied”.

Selection Process

Selection is based on short-listing of candidates according to the percentage of marks obtained in the basic prescribed qualification for the respective disciplines. Candidates with the same percentage of marks will be ranked based on seniority in the passing year. Short-listed candidates must attend certificate verification with original and self-attested copies of proof of age, qualification, marks, caste, and disability (if applicable). Final provisional selection is subject to medical fitness.
